The three-day agenda includes over 150 breakout sessions and workshops. Each day begins with breakfast at 7:00 AM, and sessions run from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Rural maternity care often requires clinicians to work at the edge of limited resources, autonomy, and legal responsibility creating high stakes situations. This session explores medico-legal risks, accountability, and access issues, providing guidance on informed consent, shared decision-making, and collaborative care. Attendees will gain strategies for navigating difficult and complex scenarios, while maintaining patient safety and professional accountability.

Objectives:

Identify key medico‑legal risks unique to rural maternity care arising from limited resources and fragmented continuity of care.
Develop effective communication strategies to navigate difficult conversations involving informed consent and informed refusal in the context of maternal care.
Integrate collaborative care practices across provider teams to support safe maternity care transitions in rural settings.
